Yesterday was one of the most surreal days of my career launching a $10M Teen Mental Health Initiative at Google.org
Here's what I know: 📌 Student and teacher centered programming matters. 📌 Moving tangible resources quickly matters. 📌 Engaging deep issue area experts matters. 📌 Systems level change matters. 📌 Influencing culture and narrative matters. 📌 Impact takes a village, no one can do this work alone.
That's why we: ✏️ Collaborated with Selena Gomez and her Rare Impact Fund to honor Eagle Rock High School's Restorative Justice teacher Aileen Gendrano Adao and surprise her students on the first day of class! ✏️ Instantly moved millions of dollars of mental health resources to teachers across the country through DonorsChoose. ✏️ Designed free clinical-expert curated trainings with The Jed Foundation (JED), The Steve Fund, Child Mind Institute - open to anyone. ✏️ Had policy leaders CA First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, CA Senator Alex Padilla, and LAUSD Superintedent Alberto Carvalho join us to talk about the importance of lifting up mental health support for all students.
It's no accident I doubled down on youth mental health funding several years ago as a critical and deeply interesctional issue. Mental health is a topic that's close to home for me. And I'm a firm believer that people with lived experience are best positioned for shifting power and moving resources into communities.

To have the fierce blood of Iranian women pulse through my veins is a privilege I will spend a lifetime trying to live up to through my work.
Millions of bold young people and women are heroically putting their lives on the line in this historic uprising to fight a ruthless regime – I stand in awe, and I stand in solidarity (... I also can be found on the floor, completely overwhelmed with emotion).
Take action today to support this movement: 1️⃣ Donate money to organizations ensuring a more just future is within reach. Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran (https://lnkd.in/gxdtnD_H) & Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (https://lnkd.in/gQuBdbxd)
2️⃣ Sign this petition and call on the UN to take investigative action. https://lnkd.in/gTiea4qb
3️⃣ Check on your coworkers. We might hold our composure because we've been trained for decades to present as non-threatening immigrants – but inside our hearts have been bleeding for weeks (years).
Freedom is all we ask for. Freedom is all we fight for. Freedom is all we live for. Zan, Zendegy, Azaady. Women, Life, Freedom.
