New job posting on my team!

This has been a hard pride month for me and even harder for the most underrepresented of the LGBTQIA+ community. What we’ve grown accustomed to, a celebration of progress with an understanding we must continue the march, has drastically changed to holding the line as best we can to stop a cultural regression.   With boycotting, backtracking, anti-trans bills, and bans. I’ve heard and seen a resurgence of fear to living one’s truth - out and proud. The usual thinking twice before holding hands in public turned to thinking nonstop. The usual worry about a threat at a pride event while driving to it replaced by not attending at all.    At times, it has been hard for me to find “hope in the seemingly hopeless.” And until recently, admitting that felt like I was disgracing the meaning of Pride.    I ashamedly shared how I was feeling with close allies and instead of disgrace, I received empathy. With close LGBTQIA+ community friends, I received understanding.    This was a strong reminder to me that pride isn’t an easy action and it’s hardest when challenged. But even if you are having a hard time being proud of yourself, there is an entire community who is proud of you for just being you. That reminder is my hope in the seemingly hopeless. For anyone feeling that way this Pride (or all year) - I am proud of you for just being you.    These days ahead won’t be easy and they will be challenging, but as long as we continue to uplift one another - we won’t lose our pride.   ---------- Sharing a special photo from the Twin Cities Spectrum BRG Pride Kickoff which was a shining example of how much support there is in and for our community. A huge shoutout and thank you to my co-lead Lauren Freathy, M.A. for demonstrating that you don’t have to identify as lgbtqia+ to be proud, you just need a kind and open heart.
