Highlights
Today marks a significant milestone in our collective journey as the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB NS). Over the past three years, we, as a unified Board of Directors, have spearheaded numerous initiatives. These efforts have not only shaped the future of our organization but also laid a solid foundation for sustained growth and success in the years ahead.
Our most notable achievement is creating a comprehensive strategic plan that will guide our efforts over the next seven years. We've also established an average approved range framework, which will be instrumental in solidifying our funding strategy. Additionally, we successfully advocated for new legislation regarding psychological injury, which has now received royal assent, ensuring that our policies reflect the evolving needs of those we serve.
Moreover, we have made significant strides in consolidating our policies and enhancing our governance systems to ensure greater efficiency and accountability.
A key part of our progress has also been recruiting a dynamic new CEO, who will lead our organization with vision and determination to achieve results based on the set KPIs we have established in our strategic plan.
Throughout this journey, we have placed a strong emphasis on building and strengthening relationships across the entire system. By working collaboratively with our partners throughout the province, we have been able to drive meaningful change and enhance the services we provide.
At the heart of all these efforts is our unwavering commitment to serving the people of Nova Scotia, ensuring that we deliver a vastly improved system that truly values and prioritizes their needs in the coming years.
It has been over two decades since WCB Nova Scotia was last reviewed, and today, we stand at a pivotal moment as our government releases a comprehensive report that encapsulates the perspectives of over 1,000 Nova Scotians. This report's insights are profound and encouraging, and we are fully committed to implementing its recommendations to create a more effective and responsive system for all.
The path ahead will undoubtedly present challenges, but by working together, we can achieve remarkable outcomes for both our employer and employee communities.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Minister Balser, Mr. Doug Reed and Deputy Minister Czapalay for their steadfast support and dedication, which have been crucial in bringing our vision to fruition.
Together, we will continue to strive for excellence and make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of Nova Scotians.
