From last night:

So grateful to be a part of a beloved Cal MSA (Muslim Students Association) community & rich legacy of Muslims at UC Berkeley.

And especially thankful to bear witness to the launch of a unique & necessary initiative to establish a Muslim chaplaincy at Cal to nourish, hold, and support future generations of Muslims on campus.

So often, young Muslims - including me back over 20 years ago as a 17 year old freshman - would come to campus and struggle through the constellation of academic pressures, spiritual turbulence, religious trauma, identity crises, and so much more.

And there was/is no qualified adult in the room to help shepherd our students through the chaos.

And now, we have a chance to cultivate an institution that holds and guides our young people through a critical crossroads, leaving generational impact.
