Shoot your shot. You get absolutely nothing if you don't ask
Whether you are Travis Kelce famously talking about wanting to date Taylor Swift or just trying to close your next client. The simple fact is that if you don't ask, you won't get it.
Too many people expect their hard work, their experience or various degrees will mean they get the next contract, promotion, or dream job. Except that isnt how the world works. For good or bad, the people that stand up and ask for something are the one's that get something.
So ignore whatever is holding you back. Be it nerves, imposter syndrome, lack of resources in your business, or something as internally confounding as your own ego. Go ask for what you want.
The worst that happens is you are exactly where you are now. Better to know, than to wonder.
Happy Friday all!

Reactionary thinking kills startups
In any given day leaders in a startup have to make decisions on a litany of priorities. Product. Hiring. Finance. Marketing. Sales. They all have daily, weekly and monthly tasks and projects to accomplish. It is overwhelming.
When those decisions start piling up, it is easy to turn those decisions into a task list and start checking them off. Just react to what is in front of you and get moving. Right?
Wrong.
Reaction by its definition is an action in direct response to a situation or event. Fight or flight is a reaction. When you lead by reaction you are missing the critical step that allows teams and companies, especially startups to succeed … strategic thought.
I’m not advocating for hundreds of KPIs or OKRs. Instead, when you are feeling overwhelmed. Pause and take the time to think through how the decisions in front of you either impacts strategic goals, or could be solved as part of a strategic initiative you deploy.
That way you aren’t swinging wildly from decision to decision.
