If you need more of a reason to realize that Sequence is the platform of web3 gaming, here you go: Announcing our partnership and first game with with Ubisoft.
Ubisoft, with Nicolas Pouard and Dominique Tardieu, has been center stage in innovating for the future of gaming, and we're excited to work with them on Champions Tactics.
This is just the beginning of the work we're doing with this AAA publisher, other AAA studios, and new indie developers who are helping gaming address the challenges that developers and players are stifling the growth in the world's largest media market.
Stay tuned for more, and if you're excited to check out Champions Tactics and get involved, you can learn more here and enjoy the Sequence-powered marketplace while you're at it: https://lnkd.in/gx35mZVS
I had a nice long chat with our partners at Aethir today about what benefits blockchain-based technology brings to game devs and players.
TLDR: it's not rocket science. Listen to the recording: https://lnkd.in/gAaCNvkN
There are a lot of accelerants and areas of friction reduction enabled by well-design (and propoperly built on the right tech) web3-enhanced games.
One area is UGC—an outlet that many game devs are using to help with the live ops support for their game, which 68% of game developers are NOT equipped to handle.
If you're not Roblox or Epic, how do you create a UGC ecosystem with payouts to creators? The amount of legal, accounting, development and support overhead is insane. When devs say "you don't need web3 to do this," tell me why more games that want UGC can't incorporate it?
The blockchain negates these hurdles:
- You don't need money transmitter licenses with non-custodial tech where creator revenues are split at the point of sale
- You don't need massive accounting and tax teams when payments are split at the point of sale
- You don't need insane development overhead when the blockchain handles purchases and trades for you
- You don't need to design and operate complex creator reward systems like Epic or Roblox when the blockchain lets it all happen, with real money
Anyway, we spent an hour getting into it. Worth the listen and thanks to our buddies Aethir and Paul Thind!
