In a couple of months, I will be running in the Falmouth Road Race, an event that for me has become something of a summer ritual. In more recent years, as part of the event, I’ve participated in the race with a charity organization called We Beat Cancer. This non-profit group provides aid to cancer patients, their families, and their caregivers – think of items like childcare, transportation, or groceries that may represent sudden hardships when experiencing the time and cost of treatment, rest, and recovery. Family and friends of my own have fought cancer, and I know firsthand that this sort of comfort matters. Last year, our team combined to raise nearly $50,000 for the organization, and we hope to equal or better that in 2024. Many individuals have generously donated to my page the past couple of years. If this is a cause that you’d like to support, you can do so at the link below. Thank you in advance to all who can contribute; every little bit helps. The race itself, for those curious, is a 7-mile sprint along some particularly scenic Cape Cod coastline. In addition to the general spectacle and the spirited community turnout, the event is committed to philanthropy, punctuated by 200+ charity teams and $7m+ raised in the 2023 edition. Next month I’m headed to the east coast to run in the Falmouth Road Race. This is both a civic and a philanthropic event; this summer I’m once again teamed up with a charity called We Beat Cancer, and I’m asking those who are able to consider donating to this cause. I had the privilege of running with this group last year, and dedicating my race to a childhood friend who had recently conceded to a long battle with lymphoma.
