Now, I have a stellar video production team (see our Instagram page for our latest work.) And complete autonomy to create whatever we want—as long it serves the mission. We're done being slaves to the algorithm, and we create what we feel deserves creating.
What I'm missing right now is a nerd in my team. Someone interested in food and fitness. Who gets in the flow state when they go down rabbit holes for a question they're curious about. Who loves reading academic papers and nonfiction books—or someone for whom "attention spans are declining" doesn't apply because they really love reading, understanding and thinking from first principles. Who can make phone calls to the right people to figure things out. And then distilling down what they learned in a clear and accessible way.
That's the JD. And if you didn't already notice, it's a JD of a reporter—meaning, at its core, this is a journalistic job. And because I live and breathe journalism, I want someone to do this with me.
