We have come to that time of year, where we look back and reflect on the year that has been, so that we can learn from our past and set new visions for the future.

This year has brought us so much to reflect on. Coming out of a two year long pandemic, we all looked at 2022 as the year we would be together again. As family, friends, neighbours and humans.

However, 2022 has brought us a war closer than we ever thought we would experience in our lifetime. This summer we saw how climate change no longer was effecting those in other continents, but killing in our own. The global financial situation continues to push people into poverty in our very own country. And daily we are witnessing the never ending growth of a polarised world.

How do we learn from that? How do we even make sense of it all? How can we turn it to something of value, so that we can be better?

As a privileged white person that lives in the best country in the world, it easy to curl up in our own little bubble, looking at the world from a safe distance. Be overwhelmed and acknowledge that “no matter what I do will fix it”. But everything we do has a consequence, an effect and a result.

How we show up each day, how we treat each other, how we prioritise, the choices we make, the people we do business with and the effort we put in our endeavours all have impact on the world around us.

As an immigrant from a heavily mixed family, thrown out of our own country due to war and nationalism. As a girl with big dreams that happened to end up on a small island in Norway. As a woman in a male and highly competitive industry, there are a few things I have learnt along the way:

Persistence isn’t a personal trait, it is hard work. Believing in good intentions isn’t a choice, it is respect for yourself and others. Purpose isn’t a right, it's a privilege.

So whatever you set as your new vision for the future, I hope you greet it with gratitude for what you all ready have. A house, a family, abundance of food, heat and electricity, a job and a well fare system, to name a few.

I hope you embrace the new people that will come your way with acceptance for their believes, their experiences and their perspectives on the world.

I hope you value your purpose in life as the most precious thing you own. I hope you nurture it and set action to your dreams, knowing just how privileged you are to have it.

We do what we do because we truly believe design has the power to change the world. We belive that we can set new standards for how we meet the world, and that honesty, transparency and trust can be tools for creativity. Therefore what we do, how we do it and who for, matters. And for that I want to thank the team at Heydays. Thank you for the integrity and the passion you put into our work every day, for your compassion towards each other and your commitment to our mission and our clients success.

Wish you all a merry Christmas and brilliant future visions for yourself and us.

Peace & Love  Sanda
