Sandra Starkweather
Sandra Starkweather is a research scientist with expertise in Arctic climatology, energy systems engineering, and research policy and planning. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin (1992), an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado (1996), and a PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado (2004).12
Dr. Starkweather currently serves as the Executive Director of the US Arctic Observing Network (US AON) initiative, a position she has held since 2017.13 In this role, she works to promote well-defined networks of sustained Arctic observations through partnership development and shared planning processes.3
