Sandy Muirhead is a co-founder and former managing partner of Phoenix Equity Partners, a UK-based mid-market private equity firm.15 He co-founded the firm in 2001 along with Hugh Lenon and James Thomas.1 Although he stepped down from his role as managing partner in 20145, Muirhead continues to be involved with Phoenix Equity Partners as a senior adviser, focusing on financial services sector investment activity.7

Throughout his career at Phoenix, Muirhead has been involved in several significant investments and transactions. He played a key role in the sale of Key Retirement Group (KRG) to Partners Group for £208 million, which delivered a return of approximately 4.5 times Phoenix's investment cost.2 He was also involved in Phoenix's investment in Redington, an independent institutional investment consultant.3
