Wow big news today!
The FTC is getting rid of noncompetes.
“Noncompete clauses keep wages low, suppress new ideas, and rob the American economy of dynamism, including from the more than 8,500 new startups that would be created a year once noncompetes are banned,” said FTC Chair Lina M. Khan. “The FTC’s final rule to ban noncompetes will ensure Americans have the freedom to pursue a new job, start a new business, or bring a new idea to market.”
I know companies have used noncompetes as a means to protect their investments however there are other ways around this. I would think NDAs or trade secret laws can provide enough protection for companies without hampering an individuals ability to find meaningful employment.
On a final note - noncompetes are not the way to lock in top talent. Providing competitive wages and benefits with flexibility built on a great company culture and trust will be far more effective in my opinion. Most likely those same employers will give you more willingly if you take care of them.

What does it mean to "travel like a local?"
Our partners in Hawaii call it Pono Travel - meaning to explore with care - preserving our natural resources, culture and communities. Traveling in this new age is not only about visiting big landmarks, traveling in large groups and paying steep prices. It's creating memories meant for you and having it personalized.
Recent studies from universities have shown that 51% of travels want to experience a new location the way locals do with 70% looking for culinary experiences and 38% wanting to mingle with locals - food brings people together :) This number continues to climb with Millennials and Gen Z leading the way.
This new commercial represents actual locals on the Sokiyo platform delivering exactly what travelers want - authentic experiences and seeing Hawaii in the eyes of locals. I have personally met with these individuals and have heard their stories. They are all amazing people and we are so excited that each of them are helping pioneer Sokiyo to the world.
