Sara Candiracci

Dr. Sara Candiracci is an accomplished professional with a diverse educational background and extensive experience in urban planning, architecture, and international development.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy, a Master of Arts in Regional Planning from Università Iuav Di Venezia, and has studied Urban Planning at Universidad Autonoma De Puebla, Mexico, and Architecture at Università Iuav Di Venezia.

Dr. Candiracci currently serves as the Associate Director at Arup, where she brings her expertise in strategic urban planning, heritage preservation, and policy formulation.

Her past roles include serving as a Project Development Consultant for the Lift program on migrant women empowerment and wellbeing in Yangon at Un-Habitat, Technical Support for a course on Economics of Heritage Preservation in Yangon at the University of Pennsylvania, and as the Strategic Urban Planning Specialist at Un-Habitat.

She has also worked as an Urban Expert for the EU Support Strategy Formulation and Policy Dialogue on Urban Development at B&S Europe, a Senior Urban and Environment Advisor for the World Bank Promaputo II Programme, and as a Coordinator of the World Bank Neighbourhood Improvement Programme at Maputo Municipal Council.

Additionally, Dr. Candiracci has experience as an International Visitor Leadership Program participant at the US Embassy Kinshasa, a Communications Officer for the World Urban Campaign at Un-Habitat, a Human Settlements Officer at the Water Sanitation and Infrastructure Branch of Un-Habitat, and as an Urban Specialist at UNESCO.

Her professional journey also includes roles such as Programme Manager at the Inter-American Development Bank, Communications Officer for the World Social Agenda at Etimos Foundation, Urban Specialist at Etimos Foundation, and Programme Manager and Administrator at Medici Con L'Africa Cuamm.

With her wealth of experience and academic background, Dr. Candiracci has become a recognized figure in the fields of urban planning, international development, and heritage preservation.
