Sports Podiatrist PhD (Dance Biomechanics)

Dr. Sarah L. Carter is a Podiatrist and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at The University of Western Australia. She has been actively involved in teaching the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Program at UWA since 2014 and has contributed to the development of course curriculum.1 Dr. Carter completed her Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine at UWA in 2009 and later obtained a Master of Science in Motion Analysis from Scotland.1

In 2018, Dr. Carter completed a joint PhD between UWA's Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Division and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University. Her thesis focused on lower leg and foot contributions to turnout in pre-professional female dancers.1

Dr. Carter regularly presents at conferences, including the Australasian Podiatry Conference and the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science Conference.1 She has also worked as a podiatrist for the West Australian Ballet.2

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes inspiring students to self-learn and providing support and guidance throughout their educational journey.1
