Highlights
I have been studying a lot the past couple of weeks, and am very happy to say that I am now a qualified mental health first aider, thanks to Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England 🎉
I am not a suddenly a professional therapist, psychologist, or counsellor, but I have acquired the skills, training, and knowledge to actively listen without judgment, offer assistance when needed, direct people to the appropriate professional support and aim to empower individuals to prioritize their own self-care.
As someone who values caring for others, this experience has been valuable in allowing me to support the well-being of my colleagues at Formidable and to normalize the idea that it is perfectly acceptable to not always be okay ❤️
Today I did five proper pushups. Not a mean feat for most people, but I've never been able to do them!
I'm super grateful not only for the Health & Wellness stipend Formidable gives all their employees, but also the ability to work flexibly and autonomously. For the past year and a half, I've used my stipend to hire a personal trainer, something for a long time I didn't have the time or money to be able to do.
Now I'm able to not only take time out from my working day to concentrate solely on my health, but as a previous "I hate all sports equally" type person, I've discovered a love of strength training (not so much when it's legs day), and actually look forward to the gym. So thanks Formidable for giving me the kick up the bum I needed to finally focus properly on my health! 💪
