Here's a hook you NEED to test:
Film a video of the video on a computer screen.
The blurriness in the first few seconds is intentional to capture attention.
We really wanted to create an elevated feel while still remaining authentic to UGC! What do you think?
Where is the BEST place to find great creators?
I always get asked this question, but the answer sometimes disappoints people hoping I reveal a magical hub (which sadly, does not exist).
I've tried every software and database out there and I find myself going back to basics...
I find all my creators through TikTok and IG, searching through hashtags and who shows up on the FYP.
It's not about how many followers they have or how pretty they look on camera. Trust me, I've worked with lots of IG model types and it never worked out.
The key is to look for "untrainable" skills such as: 1️⃣ Their energy on camera. Do they captivate you when they speak? Do their facial expressions reel you in and make you want to keep watching?
2️⃣ The setting they film in. Lighting can make or break the ad. What is the setting of their typical filming location? Do they utilize golden hour lighting? What is the lighting in their bathroom, kitchen, and other places they may be filming? Are those rooms inspirational/aesthetically pleasing?
3️⃣ Trustworthyness. When you listen to them speak about a product, does it sound like they are reading off a script? Or does it sound like they are giving a genuine testimonial? Are they relatable? Are they likable? When someone watches their testimonial, are they someone that people will trust?
When I work with creators, I like to build long relationships where I work with the same creator every week for different clients for months (and sometimes years!) on end.
Every week they receive revisions and learn how they can improve. We also share with them great ad examples and other top creators' work weekly so that they can see the goal of what we are looking for. This feedback loop is what helps them build on their skills and give me the content I am looking for on the first try.
Using this process, I have built up a roster of over 40 creators who are highly trained to deliver top-tier content every week. This process of building a roster this size took years of trial and error.
Not every creator will work out, but by looking for the untrainable skills to start and then spending the time to train them is worth all of the effort!
