This was truly a honor of lifetime to work with my phenomenal, brilliant engineering colleagues around the world.
Extensive research for over 2+ years, under the leadership of Chris Rowen. We thought it would not be possible. Everyone was skeptical. Samer L. Hijazi, Xuehong Mao Kamil Wojcicki Ivana B. Raúl Casas, Dror Maydan, Mihailo Kolundzija, Mengjun Leng and rest of the team said we will solve this hard problem. There's so many of you ! We love solving hard problems. Ferdinando Olivieri, PhD, MBA joining us at the right time as the new product manager. Extraordinarily brilliant #AI, #SpeechScience and #Networking coming together. With the rest of the Webex App engineering team feeling excited and working hard to roll it out into the products. Phenomenal 24X7 follow the sun engineering effort.
Truly honored to work with this team. We all learned so much, and there's more exciting things to come as we roll it out to across the Webex portfolio.
As Robert Frost said "And miles to go before I sleep" 🚀
Grateful for the opportunity and our leaders who nudged us along Anurag Dhingra Jeetu Patel.
Thank you to everyone in the team ! 🙏
Like many of you, my Linkedin is filled with messages about Susan Wojcicki's passing. I did not know her personally, except seeing her once in local pizza place with her young girls as I was eating with my daughter. She was down-to-earth #momofgirls. She made a great impact on the tech ecosystem and #womenintech in her short life, inspiring many of us. My deepest sympathies to her family.
I was quite heartened to read about her impact on many #PM leaders from across google's early days. Coming from a deep enterprise infrastructure and software background, #consumerPM was new to me and I have come to appreciate it more in the last several years.
Here's Installment #10 from the #AIPM trenches bringing #consumer and #enterprise perspectives together -
-
With the growth of #LLMs and more general #AI/ML research -- most features or products are either leveraging #machinedata or #humandata. Its important to understand this distinction since #data determines where/how you apply #AI/ML. Acquiring #humandata - audio, video, speech, text - can be quite a big effort. It needs to be representative of the "real world" problem you are trying to solve. The onus of defining this squarely falls on #AIPM shoulders, working together with data science and algorithm leads.
-
Building on #1 above, if you are young startup, you can start with a clean slate. But if you are building #feature into an existing platform or experience, #AIPMs have to find creative ways to acquire this #representative #datasets. While in #consumer apps most of us knowingly or unknowingly give this to #google #meta of the world, in #enterprise apps, we have to work out explicit permissions including for internal employees. As I mentioned in my earlier posts #AIPMs have to become savvy in working with the #legalexperts in the company day one.
-
Connecting the dots to #enterpriseapps #consumer and #AI/ML powered features. An important learning here is that as #AI powers #human experiences whether its #chatbots #audio #speech or #computervision experiences - it is important to have a strong congruency between #what we say the feature does in #marketing and what the #UX exhibits. After all, given the statistical nature of #models, there will be corner cases. #Trust & #safety around #AI experiences continues to bother users, so investing in #trustworthiness of the #AI across the #customer journey is critical for successful adoption.
Look forward to hearing from others in the field and their takeaways from #enterprise or #consumer AI/ML PMs.
