Highlights
It was wonderful to interact with Amgen Scholars at this year’s North American Symposium at UCLA! This year’s 175 undergraduates represent 120 colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada, and each student is undertaking a research experience at a top university this summer. (Scholars across Asia meet at Tokyo a week from now, and those across Europe meet at Cambridge a month from now.)
Scientific talks, social events, mentoring and networking. Thank you to my Amgen colleagues who made this symposium all it can be, and to the many faculty and staff at our university partners who make this program possible.
Most of all, thank you to the program alumni who participated this year, many of whom are in science-based careers in academia, industry and beyond, and who gave their time to mentor the next generation of Scholars. Amgen Foundation #since2007 #discoveryourpotential

Amgen’s new ESG report demonstrates our comprehensive approach to corporate responsibility and our communities. For the Amgen Foundation, the report calls out $3 million donated by our employees (and the Foundation double-match) on a single day in 2023 (GivingTuesday), over $20 million in new commitments announced to support #AmgenScholars and the Amgen Biotech Experience, and our support of the virtual LabXchange and Khan Academy platforms to ensure science literacy and careers are accessible to all.
The report also calls out our pride in being recognized in 2023 by Inside Philanthropy as one of the 14 most important players in corporate philanthropy, in addition to sharing compelling stories of individual and collective impact. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gayQzEQJ
