It's a rare pleasure to have so much fun while working, but that's exactly what I got to do for two weeks in #osaka and #tokyo with Berkeley SkyDeck.
Partnering with JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization and in collaboration with The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, and Tohoku University, several advisors (Will Burke, Peter Giordano, Linda Itskovitz, Marc Meyer, Bryan Rodrigues) and I got to work with amazing researchers and founders as they launch businesses in Japan and beyond.
Having visited Japan before, I knew how amazing the country was, but the hospitality, innovation, and drive of the Japanese people that I saw on this trip never fails to amaze.
Both the SkyDeck team (Caroline Winnett, Sibyl Chen, George Panagiotakopoulos, Jamie Thomas, Taylor Marcus) and JETRO team (Yotetsu Hayashi, Sawako Ito, Ken Yoshida, Kohei Okui, Kayoko Sawada, Shiori Takeda, Will F. Ferguson, Harumi Hatazaki, Chikako Kondo, Hana Nakanishi, KEITA WATANABE, Atsushi SAKAI) did a ton of work planning out a terrific set of workshops for the participants. Thank you to everyone!
Lastly, I'd like to highlight several founders -- see the comments section -- with whom I connected with in Japan. Thanks to each of you for sharing your stories, and I look forward to staying in touch as you grow your respective businesses!
