Another very thorough summary of SAR, various use cases, the growing demand from both commercial and military customers, and where the market is heading.

A few takeaways:

  1. The information, insights, and data from SAR continues to grow, be developed, and lead the earth observation industry.
  2. The use cases and industry sectors are incredibly varied and include environmental, maritime, climate change, agriculture, urban planning, oil and gas, insurance, and infrastructure monitoring. Also mentioned was archaeology which was a new one for me.
  3. Demand outstrips supply, especially when we factor in geo-political factors in all the corners of the globe.
  4. SAR, like most things space related, is hard but the market is massive and growing.
  5. Also included is a nice shoutout to SpaceAlpha as one of 6 commercial operators, building dual band SAR in both X and L, which gives the holy grail of earth observation being wide coverage and high resolution.
