Sean Burns is a seasoned educator with over 28 years of experience teaching, advising students, and managing experiential learning programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, notably at UC Berkeley.
Currently, Burns serves as the director of UC Berkeley's Center for Undergraduate Discovery, overseeing the transformation of undergraduate education through the Berkeley Discovery Initiative, focusing on inquiry-driven and project-based learning.
Prior to his current role, Burns was the director of the Office of Undergraduate Research & Scholarships at UC Berkeley, where he managed programs supporting over 3,000 students annually and received the Excellence in Management Award in 2018.
