Yo yo yo LinkedIn professional friends of mine!
It's been a bit since I've been active here, and I've truly missed connecting with many of you. I hope to reconnect and catch up soon. In the meantime, I'm excited to share a project I've been working on that I'm incredibly proud of - BeatRelease!
You may know me from the live event, sneaker, or merch industry, and you might remember my interest in building revenue models around music data. If you really know me, you know I'm a music junkie - all types, it's a problem! 🎵😅
Over the last year or so, after a messy business breakup with my ex COO (message/call me if you've been affected, I'll keep the details quiet here for a few reasons), I've built up BeatRelease, a music store selling physical media (Records, CDs, Cassettes) to build the "strongest music-loving customer base."
In the last 6 months, I launched an app too and I'm proud to say we have over thousands of users today, growing quite well daily. Our time spent on the app has been growing 5-10% a month with UX developments - and it looks pretty damn cool, if I do say so myself! 😎 Check it out in the App Store or google App Store
My goal is to work to connect fans and music lovers to these items (music, concerts, merch) and provide a valuable visual experience at prices lower than the big platforms (Amazon, eBay, StubHub, Ticketmaster, StockX, etc.)
I'll also be manufacturing/distributing media for artists (as indie as possible :)) as exclusive prints through BeatRelease - a dream of mine to work with artists, and now I'm lucky enough to be involved in bringing some AMAZING music projects to life - right in your hands! 🎨🎸
I believe the platform model for music-related goods (running for the last 20 years) is a bit outdated. Direct-to-fan relationships are both ethical and most profitable in my opinion, long-term. I'm building an experience that links to official artists' pages AND resale markets. We all know these channels exist, and I don't agree with how marketplaces mask this "obviousness" to their customers. If the artist has something available directly, we should be pushing people there, only selling on resale if the market doesn't exist primarily anymore. And we shouldn't be paying 20-40% fees to billion-dollar companies on this shit. A reversal to localized businesses handling these most coveted items is a theory I strongly believe in - but we'll see I guess!
Thanks for following me on LinkedIn forever, and if you resonate with any of the above or have some love for me, please like/share/tell your friends about my music app. I don't plan to increase marketing costs greatly - because it's not authentic as real growth by quality and word of mouth.
Cheers, and I hope to catch up with lots of you soon! My new cell number is (646) 431-5829 (old one is getting reactivated).
