Sean Jones

Director of Development, Global Economy and Development at The Brookings Institution

Sean Jones previously served as the Director of Development at the Brookings Institution's Global Economy and Development Program. In this role, he led international research teams focused on education, sustainable development, and development finance to record growth, including securing the largest grant in Brookings' history.1

Currently, Sean Jones is the Director of IREX's Strategic Partnerships Unit, where he leads efforts to build private sector partnerships that drive impact, catalyze innovation, and foster sustainable development solutions.1

Before his time at Brookings, Sean held the position of Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships at World Learning. There, he built a team focused on driving impact and innovation in areas such as digital cultural exchange, diversity in study abroad, and STEM education through new partnerships with philanthropic foundations and corporate donors.1

Sean's educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and a master's degree in public policy from Baruch College. He also completed a North American Mobility Program (NAMP) fellowship at the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University in Canada.1
