Highlights
As I embark on another three-hour journey to volunteer at the Campaign for Real Ale Peterborough Beer & Cider Festival, I’m excited to share some CAMRA updates! As the Greater Manchester Young Members Coordinator for CAMRA, I’m organizing a series of events for university welcome weeks and freshers fairs next month.
My goal? To engage more young members within CAMRA by connecting with new and existing university students.
✅ Venues secured ✅ Posters ordered ✅ Volunteers coordinated ✅ WhatsApp communities engaged ✅ Student union society contacts compiled ✅ Instagram identified as the key platform for outreach ❎ Press release picked up
While LinkedIn might not be the usual place to promote these events, I’m happy to share more details if anyone is interested. Feel free to reach out!

Has anyone used Zettlr? (This is NOT an advert!)
Most people who know me are aware of my love for writing in Markdown and my appreciation for a good graph. That’s why I find Obsidian to be an incredible tool for interconnected note-taking. Zettlr not only provides similar capabilities but also offers many additional features like split view, YAML front matter, templates, #tags, [[internal links]], snippets, Markdown WYSIWYG, and more. Plus, it's available on Linux, Windows, and Mac.
Beyond its shared features with Obsidian, Zettlr offers excellent support for several reference managers, including my favorite, Zotero, which I've been using since my university days. Additionally, Zettlr is LaTeX compatible, allows for custom CSS tweaking, and uses Pandoc for exporting to various formats, including docx and PDF, which are crucial for what I do.
However, Zettlr does have a few downsides: it lacks a dedicated community plugins section, its interface isn’t as polished as Obsidian’s, and it doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app. Nevertheless, since it uses Markdown files, you could potentially use Syncthing and the Obsidian mobile app in combination with Zettlr.
So, has anyone used Zettlr? What workflows have you set up to leverage its features effectively? I'd love to hear your experiences and tips!
