Sebastian Meis

Sebastian Meis is a transactional corporate attorney and shareholder in Baker Donelson's Atlanta office.13 He chairs the Firm's Corporate Group and is a member of the Cross-Border Team.15 Meis is licensed to practice law in both the U.S. and Germany.13
Meis advises companies on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and commercial cross-border transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, contract negotiation, supply chain and trade, and immigration and employment matters.1 He represents both U.S. and non-U.S. clients in industries including automotive, electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy, aviation, food, shipping, transportation, technology, and logistics.1 He often acts as outside general counsel for foreign-owned clients operating in the U.S., advising them on their ongoing business and legal needs.1
Meis has experience in the formation and restructuring of complex holding structures and is a trusted advisor for U.S. site selection projects.1 He has represented investment funds in corporate, tax, and bank regulatory matters related to real estate and oil and gas investments in the U.S.1 He has also advised global enterprises on the acquisition of businesses and restructuring of investments and has experience guiding multinational clients through complex business immigration issues and international tax matters.1

- Advising a German Tier 1 automotive supplier on establishing their first U.S. plant.1
- Working on numerous projects advising German clients in the formation of subsidiary entities and operations in Germany, Mexico, and Canada.1
- Leading the acquisition of U.S. and Canadian entities for a German manufacturer.1
- Advising German companies on the strategic acquisition of production facilities in the U.S. and on their market entry.1
- Advising German health care and IT companies on establishing a U.S. presence in Silicon Valley.1
Meis is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of German American Exchange, Inc., a non-profit organization that enables American students to complete internships in Germany.2 In addition, Meis participated in Diversity Lab's 2024 "Moments to Movements Hackathon" as part of the Career Catalyst team, which received an honorable mention for its DEI solutions pitch.4
