UPDATE After a long battle with ALS, Jeremy Schreiber passed away peacefully last Friday in his sleep.
Jeremy had a profound impact on my life. His generosity, kindness, positivity and humor will live on in the many ways he has touched the lives of the people who knew him. His perseverance and dedication to not being defined by ALS was beyond inspiring and a reminder of what he might have accomplished were there a cure for ALS.
Here’s my original post from 10/26. I removed the introductory line to respect Jeremy’s passing since.
I am honored to announce that after a one year hiatus (because, well, duh) from running the New York Marathon I am in it to win it this year. 😎 And by that I mean your attention, hearts and minds.
Like in 2019, I am running again for ALS TDI, an organization that does important work researching drugs that hopefully one day will be able to cure ALS. They have committed to bringing a new drug to market every two years.
I’m dedicating my running of the 50th NYC Marathon to my friend Jeremy Schreiber who was diagnosed with ALS in January 2018 and is still fighting. You can learn more about him on my fundraiser page: https://lnkd.in/ejAFn2HV
I am so excited that our son Émile will be watching this year. One day we will tell him the story of this crazy pandemic during which he was born, and of diseases like ALS, and maybe, just maybe, he will only known it from history books.
That is my dream.
