I used to teach at an elementary school in NYC, and I commend the NYC Department of Education for taking steps to improve outcomes for their 1.1 million students. The following article (in comments) by Troy Closson illustrates the complexity of this work. I'm sympathetic to the call for patience, yet I have also seen what's possible in a year. It's hard work.
The work we do at Once is designed to achieve significant student growth in reading in one academic year. We provide instructors with a scripted curriculum, so there's no guesswork about what or how to teach. We also provide 30 minutes of live coaching every week. This is not easy work, but it does work.
I'm not so foolish to discount looking at the grades students are assessed in NYC, nor what it takes to move 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders to grade level in a year. We urge our partners to deliver Once to kindergarteners in an effort to avoid the need for remediation. Teaching young students to read is difficult, but we know how to do it. I'm hopeful for the students in NYC.
For those teaching in NYC or who have students in NYC schools, I'm curious about your thoughts.

Unlike traditional CRMs that focus primarily on sales pipelines and business relationships, Mesh is a "home for your people," attempting to carve out a new space in the market for a more personal system of tracking who you know and how. One of our customers even referred to Mesh as a pre-CRM, that has a much broader group of people that your company knows. Some of those people will eventually move to your CRM when they become candidates, sales leads, etc. Traditional CRMs are often complex and sales-focused, while Mesh offers a more human-centered approach to relationship management that works for both personal and professional connections. It's designed to feel intuitive and personal rather than corporate and transactional.
