Ségolène Aymé is an esteemed figure in the field of Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, serving as the Emeritus Director of Research at the French Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM).

She has a rich history of contributions within the medical and genetic research community, manifesting her expertise as an expert in residence for rare diseases at the Brain and Spine Institute, Pitié-Salpétrière hospital in Paris.

A visionary in her field, Ségolène Aymé founded Orphanet in 1997 and led as the Executive Manager until 2011. Her leadership extended to various prominent roles such as chairing the Public and Professional Policy Committee of the European Society of Human Genetics and overseeing key initiatives in the rare diseases domain at both the European Commission and the World Health Organization.
