Is 2024 the year of reinvention? That’s the question that's been playing on my mind now that I've gone through all the winners of Fast Company's 2024 Most Innovative Companies. The companies, technologies, and systems we built a hundred years ago were designed for a very different world than the one we live in today. Now, we see the strain of 21st century humanity running on a 20th century OS. But we also see a brave set of brilliant minds stepping up to build for the next hundred years. Whether reimagining beloved brands, building upon technological innovation, or even transforming legacy systems these companies are driving reinvention across our economy. Every organization on this year’s list is part of a “from X to Y” statement – from yesterday to tomorrow, from old thinking to new thinking, from what's working today to a suspend current reality and imagine beyond-our-wildest-dream state. What I love about reinvention is that it doesn’t lose sight of the “X” – the understanding that where we came from can light the way to where we’re going, and that the ideas we already feel familiar with and connected to can become so much more when we infuse them with a vision of what’s new and what’s next. Massive congrats to all the selected companies and to Brendan Vaughan and Fast Company for putting together an incredible list that has taken over all our feeds!
Climate is coming for the capital markets!
We were thrilled to host a special opening bell at Nasdaq to kick off NYC Climate Week 2023, where we convened some of the most innovative and disruptive thinkers in the climate ecosystem for a series of conversations about the capital that’s moving the needle on net-zero – from financial and political to cultural and social.
It was an honor to welcome Former U.S. Vice President and Founding Partner & Chair of Generation Investment Management, Al Gore and our co-hosts, who represent some of the best climate investors: The Engine, Temasek, Lowercarbon Capital, and New System Ventures.
Climate is a business challenge and opportunity for everyone. At Nasdaq, we’re proud to be home to the most brilliant minds tackling this issue – from solar companies and electric vehicle manufacturers to cloud innovators and makeup brands.
Coming away from Monday’s bell, I’m in awe of the optimism and energy in the climate ecosystem. These are people who run headfirst into the hardest challenges. They’re not intimidated, and they’re not deterred by the size and scale of the problem. They see a massive opportunity – for both economic growth and environmental prosperity.
What gives you hope coming out of NYC Climate Week 2023?
