I have always been a city girl: spent half of my life in Istanbul and the second half in New York City. Climate change matters in cities. While cities house half of the world's population, they are responsible for 70% of carbon emissions. And as a Brooklyn resident, I am acutely aware of the risks that climate poses on our daily lives.
This critical issue was the focal point of BCG’s Brooklyn office's inaugural Climate & Sustainability Fireside Chat. The event featured Rich Lesser BCG’s Global Chair, Rohit Aggarwala, NYC's Chief Climate Officer and Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, and was moderated by Laura Fox, a BCG alum and Co-founder and Managing Partner of Streetlife Ventures. The group discussed the current state of urban environments and the pivotal role the public and private sectors are playing in driving toward plans and solutions. It was a pleasure to host alongside Taylor Smith and our Brooklyn team. As a leader in BCG's Public Sector team, I look forward to continuing to work with private and public sector leaders and innovators towards action.
