Şerif Turgut is a renowned Turkish journalist, war correspondent, and public information officer. She is best known as Turkey's first female war correspondent, gaining prominence for her extensive coverage of the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Turgut's career spans reporting on major conflicts, including the Kosovo War, Iraq War, Algerian Civil War, and Second Chechen War. Her work has earned her over ten national and international awards for journalism.

Turgut holds a master's degree in international politics from George Washington University and another in public administration from Harvard University. Beyond journalism, she served as the United Nations Head of Public Information Office for Central Liberia, focusing on post-conflict transition and social integration. Her experiences have been featured in documentaries such as Savaşı Anlatan Kadınlar ("Women War Correspondents").12
