Leading a Creative Supplement to Jewish Philanthropy

Seth Davis is the Founder and CEO of Giving Group Community (GGC), an innovative platform that connects wealthy Jewish philanthropists with charitable causes, primarily focused on Israel and Jewish-related initiatives.13

Background and Experience

Davis is an Israel-based social entrepreneur with expertise in social change and charitable giving.2 Prior to founding GGC, he served as the CEO of the U.S. arm of IsraAID, an Israeli refugee aid group.1

Giving Group Community (GGC)

Davis launched GGC in late 2021 with the goal of addressing what he saw as a gap in the marketplace for high-net-worth Jewish donors.1 The platform aims to:

  • Target donors capable of giving between $100,000 and $10 million annually
  • Provide a curated "menu" of vetted charitable causes
  • Facilitate connections between philanthropists and Jewish causes
  • Reverse-engineer the fundraising process by showcasing projects matched to members' interests

Vision and Goals

Davis's vision for GGC includes:

  • Driving more charitable dollars to Jewish and Israeli causes
  • Building a cohort of active philanthropists
  • Encouraging collaboration among current and rising philanthropists
  • Facilitating $50 million in charitable gifts within the first five years
  • Recruiting 500 member families

Approach

The platform draws inspiration from modern tech-driven services, with Davis noting, "Everything's really a swipe, people date this way, they buy crypto, it's fast decisions".1 GGC aims to provide concise information, quick videos, and network affirmation to help donors make informed giving decisions.

Through GGC, Davis seeks to reinvigorate Jewish philanthropy by leveraging technology and community-building to connect donors with meaningful causes and each other.4

Thank you to the town of #Ashkelon for honoring my late father with a street- Part of my speech; today we gather for this moving and well-deserved dedication and recognition. A street naming in the city of Ashkelon, the place where he saw as his home, and invested all his will to promote the city of Ashkelon and helped make it a brand in many circles. I know that everyone who will live here will be blessed with positive karma that lifts people from sadness to joy, gives people hope from dark places, builds resilience from loss, with an emphasis on mutual responsibility, and unity because there is such a thing! Also to establish happy families here. Family was a top value for him, he spent a lot of time researching the family tree. In addition to that, he used family time in the way of "laughter and smiles" - because the more you smile, the world smiles back (one of the many lessons my father taught me). I remember as a child the weekends in the national park, the beaches, Ashkelon water park and many other places for family fun. My father who made Aliya with my Mom to Israel. As a Zionist choice to live in the home land of the Jewish people, he very quickly decided with my mother that Ashkelon was the chosen place to live and go a long way in the Zionist enterprise. My father started in community development and managing thousands of volunteers from the diaspora in the city of Ashkelon in the 1980s, an example of who my father was - he had a rule with my mother that every volunteer who came to the city would be invited to a home dinner in a small and intimate group - today I understand that it was a coaching meeting of the Zionist root, persuasion to immigrate to Israel with priority to Ashkelon and to create a personal connection in order to enhance the experience in Israel. The activity through UJIA grew into the visits of major philanthropists from Great Britain, and to this day there are many projects in the city - schools, a cultural center, wings in the Barzilai, hospital, dental projects, warm homes for children at risk and much more. During all of my father's years, even as he advanced to more strategic positions in the World Zionist Organization and became the CEO of UJIA in Israel, the connection and desire to promote the opportunities for Ashkelon did not stop for a moment. As a friend and partner over the years of all the mayors of Ashkelon for generations. Even in the last week of his life in the hospital, which was an acceptance of his health condition, he held meetings from his bed of future planning for the projects he was involved in. Sitting in front of me today are some of the people with the biggest hearts I know, who deal with giving, creating impact, who choose a certain way of life and know that when you give - you get. Mainly getting more meaning in life. There is no supreme value beyond Chesed. Marty Davis
