“Are you here to take away my job?”

I was asked by a CSR when I visited a customer's office last year.

And that’s the day when I started losing sleep on the ethical implication of my job – building AI Staff that does the same jobs as a human staff.

Sure it helps the owners. Our freight brokerage customers produce an average $1.5m gross rev / head. That's $100m by a team of ~60 staff.

But is it helping the employees?

Is technology helping some employees gain superpower, but preventing others from being hired? Is it actively causing people to be fired? is it creating new jobs?

What's the real net impact of AI/automation to society? And can I sleep tight building it?

I am not smart enough to have all the answers. So I compiled a reading list and am still digging through it.

But if you have a view on the ethical considerations of automation vs jobs, please share for us to learn here!
