Shana Passonno is a higher education leader with over 25 years of experience in corporate and academic project management.

Passonno advocates for the needs of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers at UMass Amherst.

She holds a Master of Science in Leadership and Negotiation from Bay Path University and a Bachelor of Science in Cellular Biology & Molecular Genetics from the University of Maryland.

Passonno has held various leadership positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, including Assistant Dean in the Graduate School, Director of the Graduate School Office of Professional Development, and Managing Director at the Institute for Cellular Engineering.

Her professional background also includes roles at Protedyne Corporation as Supervisor of Scientific Applications and Senior Applications Scientist, as well as at Millennium Pharmaceuticals (which later became Takeda) and Human Genome Sciences as a Research Associate and Team Leader.
