Shannon Dosemagen

Director at Open Environmental Data Project; Shuttleworth Foundation Fellow

Shannon Dosemagen is a passionate environmental health advocate with extensive expertise in community science and open systems technology. With over 20 years of experience working with environmental and public health groups, Shannon has been an advocate for declining freshwater resources, coastal land loss, and monitoring programs for communities around industrial facilities. Shannon is currently a Director at the Open Environmental Data Project and a former Fellow at the Shuttleworth Foundation. She is also the co-founder of Public Lab and served as its Executive Director from 2010-20.

Shannon's work has been recognized by numerous organizations, including the Rita Allen Foundation, Ashoka Fellows, and the Environmental Leadership Program. She has also served as a board member for the National Parks Conservation Association, Code for Science and Society, and the Citizen Science Association. Shannon holds an MS in Anthropology and Nonprofit Management and a BFA in Photography and Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
