In her personal life, Shannon values spending time with her family, which comprises her husband, three children, and their four small dogs. I’m a Mobile Notary in the Dallas area. I have the Loan Signing Agent designation for Texas as well as extensive knowledge and experience doing loan closings in Texas from my years of experience as an Escrow Officer, a Realtor and other jobs in the real estate industry.
Recently, a national title company reached out to me asking if I’d like to be a notary for them. They sent over the information with an email which stated in part “X title company pays a standard fee of $95 to the signing agent/notary for doc signing packages, please consider that when you complete page 8 of the agreement (price ranges are not allowed).”
I replied the fees were too low and not comensorite with my experience. I didn’t receive a response from them. Depending on the type of transaction, I charge between $175-250 per closing. There have been many times I have caught mistakes, realized necessary documents weren’t included in the loan docs and more due to my knowledge and experience.
A Mobile Notary can make a title company’s job easier and they are so convenient but if they don’t know what they’re doing, it can turn a normal transaction into a complete disaster. This isn’t the place to cut costs. Offering $95 per closing is a sure fire way to attract inexperienced people. You get what you pay for…cliché but definitely true.
Ready for my next adventure. I’ve spent the last 19 years balancing raising my 3 kids (a son plus boy/girl twins) with a career. During this time, I’ve put my kids first and found jobs where I could maximize my time with them.
I’ve held some fascinating positions and acquired a unique set of skills including working in the closing department of Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage doing due diligence for loans for securitization (so much fun…ask me about the time my mom called me to tell me my kindergarteners had lice. It was exactly like the scene out of I Don’t Know How She Does It with Sarah Jessica Parker. Find it on YouTube. Trust me, you’ll love it!), I created a niche business catering to people going through divorce (we filmed a sizzle reel for a reality show and I was able to do a few radio and TV shows), I’ve worked in every aspect of the real estate industry including a licensed Realtor, business development for two of the highest producing real estate teams in DFW, escrow officer at a title company and currently, a mobile notary doing real estate closings.
Now I’m ready to find a place that will value all my experience, take the time to see what I can bring to their organization and GIVE ME A CHANCE!
