Shantanu Chakraborty

Postdoctoral Researcher at UNSW - Transport Modelling - Transport Network Analysis - Traffic Optimization - Strategic Transport Planning

Shantanu Chakraborty is a transport professional and researcher specializing in transport innovations, traffic flow modeling, transportation network analysis, and optimization. He has expertise in data analytics, econometrics, and statistical analysis, particularly in developing analytical and simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment models. Recently, he completed his PhD thesis at UNSW Sydney, focusing on dynamic traffic assignment models for system optimal future mobility applications. He has also developed a unique optimization framework for connected and automated vehicles (CAV) with exclusive lanes to facilitate the transition towards automation-heavy transport systems. Shantanu has devised and implemented strategies like departure-time incentives and shared mobility services to mitigate congestion. Currently, he works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at rCITI, UNSW Sydney, concentrating on the design and development of Urban Air Mobility services.
