Starting her career journey as a Research Assistant for Congressman Sander Levin, Sharanya gained invaluable insight into the political landscape and the intricacies of public service. Her role involved conducting critical research and supporting the development of policies that impact local and national communities. Following this, she expanded her horizons as a GMF Cities Policy Research Intern at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. In this capacity, she analyzed urban policy issues and contributed to discussions on transatlantic relations and sustainable urban development.
Sharanya’s work is characterized by her interdisciplinary approach, blending her passion for art and design with public policy and community service. She has served as a Capstone Graduate Assistant at the University of Michigan Barger Leadership Institute, where she mentored students and facilitated workshops aimed at developing leadership skills and fostering civic engagement.
Most recently, Sharanya has held roles that leverage her analytical and consulting skills, such as being a Policy Consultant at Lean & Green Michigan and a Consultant at the U.S. Department of Justice. In these positions, she engaged with diverse stakeholders to promote clean energy policies and improve governmental efficiencies, showcasing her ability to navigate complex policy challenges.

Sharanya continued her education at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, where she earned a Master of Public Policy specializing in Public Policy Analysis.
