At the spring i/o, I conducted a workshop on replaying production traffic locally. 46 people attended the 2 hours workshop (when the room could accomodate only 40)

and I got to meet the legends from the spring/java world.

Sergi Almar i Graupera is a one man army and he did a brilliant job conducting the conference.

This Uber user got a bill of Rs 7,66,83,762 (about $950k) for a rickshaw ride. Internally, Uber and Ola have platforms that other teams use. The platform teams (in this case - the payments platform) have their own unit and integration tests which mostly test downstream dependencies. No one ever tests all the upstream scenarios.

In this case, they may have introduced a city-level code change that wasn't tested for side effects in other cities. At their scale, it's nearly impossible to test these many scenarios manually.

The rickshaw driver won't let the user go until he pays the amount. 😂

Replaying production traffic locally, even before pushing code changes - is the only way to ensure your users won't be in agony.

unlogged.io helps you with exactly that.
