Highlights
At the California Neurotechnology Conference at University of California, Davis, I had the pleasure of:
🗯️ Speaking on the Industry Panel with Julia Scott, Gail Christine Gannon, Chloe Duckworth, and Caitlin Ner! 🥊 Rolling with the punchlines and having a fist bump with Nathan Copeland! 🧠💭 Judging the BCI competition with Eros Marcello! 🤝 Catching up with Naveen Rao, Chinmayi Balusu, MPH, and Akshat Kalra! ✨ Conversing with many neurotech enthusiasts!
Thank you for the opportunity, Steven Veld, Kaitlyn Callo, and the many organizers of the California Neurotechnology Conference!
For neuroscience students, I think it is very important to connect with people who are currently working in medical neurotechnology. It helps to both gain a historical perspective and to be up to the minute on what is happening in the field.
I learned how to think like a scientist, write experimental designs, conduct experiments, and analyze data as a grad student. Yet academic coursework was not enough for me to learn about translating findings in research labs to treatment options people can benefit from. Being connected with people in medical neurotech helped tremendously in bridging this gap-- and still does!
In medical device development, much thought goes beyond just building technology that works. Innovations involve attention towards intellectual property, risk assessments, quality management with ISO certifications, regulatory processes with the FDA, the insurance reimbursement landscape, cybersecurity, outcomes for patients, and numerous other considerations.
If you are interested in neurotech innovations, I suggest applying to the Cleveland NeuroDesign Entrepreneurs Workshop, which has free registration and lodging for people admitted. This is was my first step from systems neuroscience to neurotech 5 years ago. Applications are open!: https://lnkd.in/gGvQZnGH
Still learning, still connecting. Thoughtfully.
💫 Cheers to many connections of the present and those to come!

Suffer from anxiety? Or have a connection who does?
Our team is recruiting participants for a research study designed to determine whether low-intensity ultrasound can temporarily alter self-reported anxiety and brain activity related to emotional processing. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA.
Our study on clinicaltrials dot gov: https://lnkd.in/gp6QC98j
We compensate research participants! Compensation depends on the study and a person's level of engagement in the study.
To enroll or learn more, please contact us at [email protected] or (650) 770-9848 Looking forward to advancing anxiety treatment research.
We appreciate sharing and spreading the word!
