Sharmila Parmanand

Gender and Human Rights Fellow at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)

Sharmila Parmanand is a highly accomplished individual with a diverse educational background and a wealth of experience in gender studies, development, debate, public speaking, and consultancy.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge, a Master's degree in Development Studies (Gender track) from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science with a Major in Global Politics, cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University.

Throughout her career, Sharmila has been associated with prestigious organizations such as The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as a Gender and Human Rights Fellow. She has also served as a Board Member at the International Debate Education Association and worked as an International Debate and Public Speaking Consultant.

Her professional journey includes roles such as Consultant at Student Hubs, Co-Coach at the Palestine National High School Debate Team, Lecturer at the University of Vermont, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Visayan Forum Foundation, and Head Coach at the Philippine National High School Debating Team.

Sharmila's experience also extends to research and consultancy positions where she has contributed as a Research Consultant at Women's Legal Bureau, Development Analyst and Consultant at Devex, and Development Effectiveness Intern at Save The Children Australia. She has also shared her expertise as a Research consultant at Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc. and as a Lecturer in the Department of English and Literature at Ateneo de Manila University.

Additionally, Sharmila has interned at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, further enriching her skills and knowledge in various areas.

Her dedication to gender studies, human rights, debate, and development work is evident through her extensive involvement in academia, research, advocacy, and coaching roles.
