One of the reasons you might hold back from speaking up at work is feeling that what you have to say doesn't make a difference.
You think "Why bother sharing my thoughts and ideas when my voice isn't heard anyway"?
The challenge this presents however is two fold.
It limits your progression to leadership as taking up space by using your voice demonstrates your leadership readiness.
It limits productivity, collaboration and innovation, getting in the way of organisational and team success.
While the conditions around you can contribute to this sense of apathy, it can also be worth considering what action you can take to shift from closing up to opening up when it comes to speaking up and contributing at work.
