Some personal news - I’m excited to be starting a new role next week as Acting Senior Policy Analyst at the National Indigenous Organization Engagement team at NRCan!
Over the past two years I’ve had the profound privilege of working to support UN Declaration Act implementation alongside a team of exceptional and dedicated public servants. I’ve been fortunate to work on a file that helped move the dial on reconciliation and affirmed the human rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada in tangible and evaluable ways.
I’d like to particularly thank my Director Joel-Jean (JJ) Beauchemin for providing me with the opportunities, mentorship, and support to grow in my career.
I’m looking forward to take everything I’ve learned and putting it to work – in developing relationships and supporting engagement! My new role will see me on the front lines of modernizing NRCan structures to support our relationships with Indigenous peoples across Canada and give me a front row seat to the amazing transformation the natural resources sector continues to undergo. I’m looking forward to an exciting year!
First post on LinkedIn and its just blatant self-promotion! :) On Wednesday, my colleagues and I were awarded NRCan's Departmental Achievement award in recognition of our team's efforts to implement the United Nations Declaration Act (UNDA) and the UNDA Action Plan. Over the past two years, our team has been working hard to advance the UNDA and deeper, more meaningful collaborations with Indigenous Peoples. It is a role that I carried out with great care and gravity - as this historic process (which our team is but a small part of) will have a lasting impact on how Indigenous human rights in Canada are developed and implemented. While the journey is far from over, Wednesday was a great reminder of how hard we worked and how far we've come. I'm very grateful to be a part of this team. I'm especially grateful for the leadership of Joel-Jean (JJ) Beauchemin, Sophie Hashem Lee and Brenda Price - whose guidance and wisdom over the past 2 years made this award even possible. An excellent way to kick-off to the holiday season!
