Shaun O'Boyle

Producer and Science Communicator

Shaun O'Boyle is a science communicator, podcast producer, and activist known for his work in promoting science and improving representation of LGBTQ+ scientists.1 He founded House of STEM in 2017, a network aimed at connecting LGBTQ+ scientists in Ireland.14

O'Boyle holds a PhD in Developmental Biology from NUI Galway, where he studied the first genes to be activated in developing zebrafish embryos.1 After completing a postdoctoral research position at University College Dublin, he worked at Science Gallery Dublin from 2011 to 2016 in various roles.1

As an advocate for LGBTQ+ issues in STEM, O'Boyle has been involved in several initiatives:
