🎵 Ever feel like your life is a playlist stuck on repeat, until a sudden change hits and you’re forced to face the music?

Life/career transitions often come with a mix of excitement and anxiety. As we step into the unknown, the familiar rhythms of our lives are disrupted, leaving us vulnerable and sometimes feeling lost.

In these moments, music can be a guide that helps us navigate change, find our footing, and connect with our emotions.

Earlier this year I was caught in the whirlwind of a career shift. After years of leading teams and driving projects, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of my next move.

The security of my previous role had vanished, replaced by a sense of uncertainty that hung over me. In the midst of this transition, I turned to music, looking for solace in what had been the soundtrack to my life.

One evening, as I sifted through old playlists, I stumbled upon a song that had been a favorite of mine when I was younger: Fugazi's Waiting Room.

I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait My time is like water down a drain Everybody's moving, everybody's moving Everybody's moving, moving, moving, moving Please don't leave me to remain In the waiting room

As the first notes played, a wave of nostalgia washed over me, and I was transported back. The lyrics now carried a different meaning. It was as if the song was telling me, "You've faced change before, and you will again."

Music has a unique way of connecting us to our emotions. It speaks to us in a language that transcends words, tapping into the deepest parts of our psyche.

I listened to songs that spoke of sadness, melancholy, and endings, but also of resilience, hope, and the strength to move forward. Each time I pressed play, I felt a little lighter, a little more capable of facing the unknown.

As the days turned into weeks, I began to create a new playlist that reflected the journey I was on. It became a ritual: every morning, I would start my day with a song that lifted my spirits and reminded me of my inner strength.

It wasn't just about the lyrics or the melody; it was about the feeling that the music evoked, the sense of connection to something larger than myself.

With time, I'm finding my way through this transition, and as I've started to settle into my new career, I've realized that music has been more than just a comfort. It's been a lifeline.

It's given me the courage to embrace change, to trust in the process, and to believe that the best is yet to come.

Whether you're facing a career change, a personal loss, or any other life transition, consider turning to music. Let it be your companion, your guide, and your source of strength.

Create a playlist that reflects your journey, and let the songs carry you through the ups and downs. Feel your feels and move your body.

Find the soundtrack you need to help you reflect on where you've been, be where you are, and take you where you want to go. 🎶
