Shayna Hume is a dedicated graduate student pursuing a combined M.S./Ph.D. program at the University of Colorado Boulder with a focus on Astrodynamics, Satellites, and Navigation, specifically researching Martian Entry, Descent, and Landing. She is actively involved in NASA Langley-affiliated research under Dr. Jay McMahon's ORCCA Laboratory, recognized as a NSFGRFP fellow since 2018. Additionally, Shayna is working towards a M.E. in Aerospace Engineering Management through CU's Lockheed Martin Engineering Management program. Her academic interests lie in Entry, Descent, and Landing, flight sciences/trajectories, guidance, navigation, and control, as well as systems engineering for commercial space industry missions emphasizing atmospheric and planetary exploration. Aside from her academic pursuits, Shayna engages in various roles within the space community, serving as an active member of the Space Generation Advisory Council, a team member in a space sustainability project group, and the co-lead of SGAC's Mentorship Program, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the global space sector with a focus on sustainability and infrastructure development.
