TEN YEARS AGO

It's hard to believe that it's been a decade since Christopher Stephens and I launched our 10-part documentary series, "Where Small Business Grows," on Amazon Prime - where it remains today.

Back then, we were both strapped for cash, and I ended up financing the project by parting ways with my beloved 1978 Airstream, towing it to its new owner in Lafayette, Louisiana with my trusty but well-traveled Ford Explorer. Along the journey, we seized every opportunity to capture footage, setting up shots on the road there and back. Along the way, we encountered remarkable small businesses, each with their own inspiring stories.

Chris manned the primary camera and handled all post-production work, while I took charge of the second camera and directed and produced the series.

A decade later, whenever Chris and I catch up, our conversations inevitably drift back to those hallowed times in the "Remember When" village. It still blows my mind to reflect on how just the two of us managed to create such high-quality work with outdated and sometimes malfunctioning equipment. If you don't lay the groundwork in the "Remember When" village, where will you find solace in your later years?

Embrace adventure. Take risks. Build your own legacy.

And if you have not watched the Where Small Business Grows series on Prime, hurry, you never know when Amazon will realize that it’s still up!
