Highlights
Three senior women leaders have quit Cognizant in quick succession, highlighting a significant challenge in retaining top talent within the organization. Last year, Cognizant appointed six women leaders to senior vice-president roles. However, the loss of these women leaders has put the spotlight on the challenges in retaining and advancing women leaders.
Sailaja Josyula has resigned from her position within a year of being promoted. She was among the six senior vice-presidents (SVPs) who had been elevated to their roles. Josyula was promoted as SVP of intuitive operations & automation (IOA) for the banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI) industry for the commercial markets in North America as well as global delivery. She also served as the head of the Hyderabad center, which is Cognizant's second-largest delivery center with over 56,000 associates. Sailaja joined Cognizant in 2018. In July, Josyula joined EY as a partner and head of the managed services business.
In yet another departure, Shameka Young, VP and global head of diversity and inclusion, resigned from the firm after a 12-year stint. Sources told TOI that Maya Sreekumar, who is also the head of operations at Coimbatore, has replaced Young. Cognizant’s BFSI head, Meera Krishnamurthy, who managed a book of business of nearly $6 billion, quit the firm eight months after she was elevated to lead the practice. She left the firm last year.
In fact, Archana Ramanakumar, who has rejoined Cognizant as SVP of the industry solutions group (ISG), is perhaps the only woman SVP to be based in India, which employs 240,000 employees. Archana had left Cognizant in 2020 to move to LTI and LTI Mindtree. She first joined Cognizant in 1996. #diversity #Itfirms #tech #talent
AI is not only transforming traditional attack vectors but also playing a vital role in neutralizing potential dangers. Among the most in-demand skills in cybersecurity include security architects, security engineers, incident responders, and fraud analysts.
"The threat landscape has evolved from simple malware to sophisticated attacks like ransomware. The rise of generative AI has enabled threat actors to execute evasive, unique, and destructive zero-day attacks. With the expanding attack surface and evolving threats, proficiency in network security, incident response, cloud security, AI-driven threat detection, and regulatory compliance is essential," said Kunal Ruvala, SVP and general manager at cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks India.
RV Raghu, ISACA ambassador and director at Versatilist Consulting India, said digital trust will require a wide variety of roles with a blend of functional and security roles matched to technical skills. "Both defensive roles such as security engineers and devsec ops engineers and offensive roles such as risk and fraud analyst and incident responders will be in demand," he said. ISACA is an advocate for professionals involved in information security, assurance, risk management and governance.
Raghu said certifications such as @ISACA's CISM (certified information security manager) and certified data privacy solutions engineer (CDPSE) provided a 10% increase in salaries and a 11% jump in market value for certified professionals, according to data from a recent Foote Partners survey released in Q2 2024. "In keeping with the great interest in AI, Foote Partners IT Skills Demand and Pay Trends Report (ITSDPT) survey also pointed out skills relating to machine learning operations (MLOps) and convolutional neural network (CNNs) provided a pay premium as high as 21% and 10% increase in market value. Other skills relating to data governance, data strategy and risk analytics/assessment also scored high on the Foote Partner survey," he added. #cybersecurity #skills #tech #ai
