Councillors, campaigners and others have called for a "state of emergency" to be declared in Birmingham after a series of deaths and serious injuries in road traffic collisions.

The last few days have seen a vigil in Highgate at which the father and sister of a 4 year old girl killed as she walked on the pavement with her mum and aunt spoke of their pain, and news of a 50ish lawyer killed as he cycled to work in the city centre. We’ve also heard news of a 10 year old child hospitalised with major trauma and just last night a man killed as he sat outside a pub in Boldmere. If you would like to see an end to this epidemic of avoidable deaths and serious injuries, please consider joining the protest tomorrow near St Chad’s.
