🍽 What policies are essential for moving food systems towards healthy diets? Depends on who you ask…
A new study asked nutrition stakeholders across regions and role what they thought, and then assessed the level of consensus between them. Here’s what they found: 🔎 The availability of evidence on the effectiveness of a certain policy action on diets doesn't always have a bearing on the level of consensus it garners 👩🌾 Views on what are 'essential' and 'non-essential' policy actions vary by stakeholder group. E.g., researchers and advocacy NGOs views differ quite a lot when it comes to fortification, reformulation, and social safety nets. 🍉 But...some common ground is emerging on e.g., school feeding, smallholder market access, and women in agriculture. 🗨 Still, with 42 different possible actions, there's a huge diversity of views. This mean leaders in the nutrition sphere need to “put substantial effort towards facilitating effective and constructive discussions” ➡ Only by coalescing around priorities will we generate the political action needed to deliver healthier diets. 📰 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/dsrGhV_R
